How Swaata handles your data.
This Privacy Policy explains how Swaata collects, uses, shares, protects, retains and deletes personal information when you use Swaata Rider, Swaata Captain, our websites and related services.
1. Information we collect
Account and profile information
Depending on how you use Swaata, we may collect your name, mobile number, optional email address, date of birth, gender, referral information, profile selections and other information you provide to create or maintain your account.
Captain and vehicle information
If you use Swaata as a captain, we may collect information required for captain onboarding, eligibility, approval, service category and vehicle identification or operation. The exact information requested may vary as Swaata's captain onboarding process evolves.
Location information
Swaata uses location information to provide ride-hailing functions such as pickup positioning, destination and route calculations, nearby-driver matching, trip progress, ETA and safety or support functions. Rider location may be used when you use location-based features. Captain location may be processed while the captain is online and while a ride is active, including background processing where Android permissions and service requirements allow it.
Trip, service and transaction information
We may process pickup and destination information, trip route and status, timestamps, fare information, selected payment method, ride OTP/status information, cancellations, ratings, support events and other records needed to provide and administer a trip.
Device, app and diagnostic information
We may process device/app identifiers, push-notification tokens, app version, network state, security signals, crash reports, performance diagnostics and similar technical information needed to operate, secure and improve Swaata.
Communications and support
If you contact us, we may process the contents of your message and the contact information you use so that we can respond, investigate an issue or provide support.
2. How we use information
- create, authenticate and maintain accounts;
- match riders and captains and provide ride, route, ETA and trip-status functions;
- operate payments or payment hand-offs and maintain transaction status;
- send service, ride, security and account notifications;
- provide support, receipts and account administration;
- protect users and Swaata from fraud, abuse, duplicate or unauthorized account use and security incidents;
- debug, maintain and improve app reliability and performance;
- comply with legal, regulatory and legitimate record-keeping requirements.
3. When information may be shared
We do not sell personal information. We may share or make information available only as needed for the service, including:
- between riders and captains where necessary to request, accept, perform, complete or support a ride;
- service providers that help Swaata provide authentication, cloud storage/database, backend functions, notifications, mapping, routing, crash diagnostics, security and related infrastructure, including services from Google/Firebase and Google Maps Platform;
- payment services or payment apps when you choose a payment option that requires interaction with that provider;
- legal or safety recipients where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, users, safety, security or prevent fraud;
- business successors if Swaata undergoes a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring or transfer, subject to applicable law.
4. Payments
Where Swaata hands a payment to a third-party payment app or provider, that provider may process information under its own privacy policy. Swaata does not need your banking password, UPI PIN or card PIN to provide the ride-hailing service and you should never share those credentials with Swaata support.
5. Security
We use administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect personal information, including authenticated access controls and encrypted network transport where supported by our infrastructure and service providers. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Swaata, maintain legitimate business or safety records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. Retention periods may differ by data type and purpose.
Minimal deleted-number security lock
After an account is deleted, Swaata may retain a minimal security record derived from the deleted mobile number to prevent automatic recreation of the deleted identity and to support fraud/security review. The support-lock record uses a one-way HMAC-derived identifier rather than storing the plaintext phone number in the lock record. It may also contain limited deletion/release status and audit metadata.
This minimal support/security record is separate from the deleted profile and does not restore old profile, trip, approval or other deleted account data. The lock remains until it is released by authorised Swaata support and may remain indefinitely if no release is requested, where retained for legitimate security or fraud-prevention purposes.
7. Account and data deletion
You can delete your account in the Swaata app through Account → Settings → Delete Account. You can also request deletion outside the app through our account deletion page.
When a valid deletion request is completed, Swaata deletes the app account and associated personal data from active account systems, except information that we must or are permitted to retain for legitimate purposes such as fraud prevention, security, dispute handling or legal/regulatory compliance. Retained information is limited to what is necessary for those purposes.
8. Your choices
You may update certain profile information in Swaata, manage Android permissions through your device settings, contact us about privacy questions, and request account deletion. If a deleted mobile number needs to be used for a new Swaata account, authorised support may release the deletion lock after appropriate verification. A released number creates a fresh account; previous deleted data is not restored.
9. Age eligibility
Swaata's current onboarding is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly intend the service for children under 18.
10. International processing
Our technology providers may process information in India or other locations where they operate, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Swaata develops or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date on this page when we make material revisions.
